My Story

Hi there! I’m Patricia Favila, a geography and environmental science student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the small town of Bloomington, Illinois, 17 years ago. My journey has been anything but ordinary. Moving to the United States was a culture shock—I had no idea what life would be like, but I knew I had to trust the process, embracing the good, the struggles, and everything in between.

That mindset has shaped who I am today: a resilient and curious individual passionate about exploring the connections between people, places, and the environment. From a kid who was once wide-eyed and unsure about what the future held, I’ve grown into someone deeply committed to understanding and addressing the challenges that shape our world.

Most importantly, I want to share with you my Geospatial Information System (GIS) journey as I work toward my degree. This blog will highlight some of the most profound work I’ve done so far using tools like R Studio, ArcGIS, and other geospatial technologies. I’m excited to show how these tools bring environmental data to life and help solve real-world environmental problems.

Through this blog, I share not just my academic pursuits but also the lessons, challenges, and triumphs I’ve encountered along the way. Whether you’re here for environmental science insights or stories about navigating life’s unpredictability, you’re in the right place. Grab a coffee, pull up a chair, and let’s connect—I’m so glad you’re here!
